HEARTS ACS – from STEMI to Occlusion MI

What to expect before the course begins

You will receive the HEARTS Emergencies handbook 1-week prior to the start of the course. This book will explain the HEARTS approach in detail, and the paradigm shift from STEMI to Occlusion MI.

What to expect in the course

This course will review the HEARTS approach to ECG interpretation, and how it helps understand the limitations of STEMI criteria and learn advanced ECG interpretation for Occlusion MI. The first session will use the HEARTS approach to review the top 10 false positive STEMI (ST elevation without occlusion) and top 10 false negative STEMI (subtle occlusion not meeting STEMI criteria)

In the second session, you will practice on real, high-yield ECG cases with a range of false positive STEMI and subtle occlusions.

The course is live and highly interactive, and no recording is permitted so that everyone feels comfortable participating.

Learning objectives

1. Participants will be able to systematically interpret ECGs
2. Participants will be able to apply evidence-based ECG interpretation in clinical context – to false positive STEMI and subtle occlusions

This activity meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the Quebec College of Family Physicians, a continuing professional development accrediting organization recognized by the Collège des médecins du Québec and has been approved for up to 10 Mainpro+^® Certified Activity credits.

The CFPC has a reciprocal credit reporting agreement with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada: up to 10 MOC Section 1 (Maintenance of Certification) activity credits
